What is Proteus?
Proteus is a revolutionary performance testing device combined with a powerful new resistance training tool.
Until now, there hasn’t been an accurate and practical way to quickly evaluate an athlete’s strength and speed across the entire body, particularly for multi-planar and rotational movements.
-
Proteus’ patented 3D Resistance and software provides 3-dimensional forces with the purpose of measuring and tracking strength and power for nearly every movement.
-
Proteus' 3D resistance, which is constant in all directions, is contentically biased and delivers up to 2x more muscle activation than cable machines and free weights.
-
Proteus’ software allows you to test any combination of movements in as little as 3 minutes.
-
Compare to other athletes like them or any demographic
-
Receive shareable reports with insights on the test taker’s strength and speed for each movement and personalized training recommendations based on the cohort they are comparing to.
-
Validate improvements; track and monitor performance over time

What are the 3 main things I should know about Proteus?
-
Proteus is a revolutionary performance testing device combined with a powerful new resistance training tool.
-
Testing with Proteus provides an actionable evaluation of strength and speed across the entire body for the most personalized training programming in history.
-
Proteus' 3D resistance, which is constant in all directions, is concentrically biased and delivers up to 2x more muscle activation than cable machines and free weights.
There hasn't been an accurate and practical way to quickly evaluate an athlete’s strength and speed across the entire body, particularly for multi-planar and rotational movements. Why?
-
Strength is the ability to move through and against resistance. To measure strength accurately, that resistance must remain constant.
-
Unless you are moving in a straight line, it is impossible for resistance from free weights and cable machines to stay constant throughout an entire movement.
-
This is because the source of the resistance cannot adjust to mirror the angles of your movement throughout. This is why it may feel harder or easier at the beginning or end of a repetition
-
Therefore, without Proteus it's only possible to measure strength for movements in a straight line.

To measure or train strength for 3-dimensional movements, you need 3-dimensional forces.
Proteus® Motion has solved this by inventing 3D Resistance™.
3D Resistance™ mirrors every movement to provide constant resistance no matter what direction you move, making the Proteus® system the first-ever way to accurately measure strength and power for every human movement.
-
Proteus Motion delivers more unprecedented versatility, applications, and data than any product in the history of fitness and physical rehabilitation.

With Proteus, trainers will be able to:
-
Evaluate an athlete's strength and speed across the entire body
-
Determine specific exercises, resistance levels, and speeds to optimally train
-
Validate performance results
-
Diagnose performance issues and personalize training programs
-
Determine readiness to return to play or work
-
Engage users, create competitions
Proteus’ 3D Resistance has a number of benefits:
2x Neuromuscular Activation
-
Proteus provides 2x neuromuscular stimulation compared to cables and free weights. It provides resistance throughout the entire movement pattern – beginning, middle and end of any movement - for maximum efficiency.
Ability to test and train 2 movements at a time
-
Proteus users are able to perform two exercises in the time of one with concentric resistance in both directions during every repetition.
Full Body Engagement
-
The heightened engagement of muscles prompts users to produce force from the ground up, and naturally adjust to discover their optimal movement patterns.
Safer than traditional resistance training tools
-
Proteus adapts itself to your movements. When you stop, the machine stops. This unique resistance system also has a low impact on joints and tissue.
Proteus' Insights & Recommendations takes away the guesswork of personalizing your athletes' training programs.
-
Understand exactly where your athlete's fall on the force velocity spectrum based on the normative data of similar individuals.
-
Receive training recommendations to increase the strength, power, and/or acceleration of a particular body region.
Proteus for Movement Analysis
Users can view peak power, acceleration, deceleration, velocity, and range of motion for all tested movements.
Proteus for Performance
-
Proteus patented the first and only way to measure and train strength and power for every human movement with the invention of 3D Resistance, which provides constant force in any direction you move, at any speed.
-
With Proteus' Insights & Recommendations, coaches can tailor the most personalized training programs possible based on where their athletes rank within a particular cohort.
-
Proteus allows for resistance in movement patterns that are natural for athletes. No need for awkward loading positions with barbells and dumbells!
-
Proteus loads plane specific rotational movements better than any other training tool on the market.
-
Real time feedback allows for competition amongst training groups and notifies the athlete of their benchmark power/velocity values.
-
Proteus is the perfect in-season training tool to keep power maximized without the eccentric loading stress that comes with traditional resistance training tools.
Proteus for Rehabilitation
-
The concentrically biased nature of Protues' 3D Resistance allows for resistance training with early post-surgical tissue.
-
Proteus’ 3D Resistance allows clinicians to rehab 2 movements at a time.
-
The 3D Resistance provided by Proteus mimics the uniform resistance of exercising in water without having patients get in the pool. Clinicians have the ability to change the viscosity of the “liquid” their patients are working in.
-
Patients are able to complete movements that are comfortable for them. With Proteus there are no fixed patterns due to rigid limitations from equipment.
-
With Proteus' testing, practitioners will be able to use baseline assessments to note where a patient stacks up against their population.
-
Proteus' testing capabilities displays bilateral differences. Ensuring practitioners that they are minimizing any strength imbalances.

Proteus for General Population Training
-
Because of Proteus’ 3D Resistance, users will have to work more to complete movements that are typically performed on other pieces of equipment. Increase in work performed = Increase in calories expended.
-
Proteus allows for the ability to perform non-impact conditioning.
-
Proteus' concentrically-biased nature limits eccentric load that is associated with delayed onset muscle soreness.
-
Immediate power/velocity feedback instills natural competition amongst users.
